Hi Friends,

Today we have an old-fashioned text-based newsletter for you. We will always mix it up – video ‘newsletters’ / text newsletters.

We have learned that some aren’t watching the video newsletter because, as a rule, they don‘t go on YouTube.

I have good news about that!

The video newsletter is NOT on YouTube! Thanks to the monthly subscribers, we have our OWN video channel.

The text-based newsletter on the health topic is below. Perhaps the most important indicator of your condition of health and disease risk is revealed in the article.

But first, here is a list of the video newsletters that have hit your inbox in recent weeks if you want to catch up:

The Health Stat of yours that Tells you A LOT in One Simple Measure

So I suppose it‘s fitting (no pun intended) that our second message from the Belt of Health initiative is challenging you to measure your waist! Get it? “Belt?” Oh, Scott, please have mercy on us!

OK, no more bad jokes.

No, we don’t mean no bad jokes; we mean don‘t make us measure our belly!!

I get it. It‘s an uncomfortably large fact to face for most of us. And we often feel ’ok‘ because we‘re not the worst around (Scott, you said no more bad jokes!!), so we compare ourselves with an extremely fat society and are comforted by the comparison.

But what if I were to tell you that people who‘ve been surveyed who‘ve lost over 126 pounds:
90% of them would rather have a limb removed than have that weight back

90% of them would rather be BLIND than have that weight back!
Nobody who has lost weight of any amount regrets it, right? (With rare exceptions, of course.)

Bottom line: improvements in our physical health immediately translate into mental health improvements.

And who doesn‘t want to be happier?

Well, I guess the food addict doesn‘t. We eat things that give a temporary rush of pleasure but leave us feeling lower. And then we keep doing it even though we are less happy than if we did it the smart way.

Belt of Health is here to help you break the vicious cycle and begin a virtuous cycle!

It starts by looking in the mirror. Yeah, I know, the moment of the cold, harsh truth.

The best measure of disease risk (aside from getting your bloodwork done) is as simple as measuring your waist circumference – above the hip bone and below the bottom rib – and then measuring your height. Then do a little math. Namely, divide the circumference by height.

It‘s the waist-to-height ratio.

It‘s what insurance companies who offer health incentive discounts have begun to adopt in addition to simple BMI (weight divided by height times a multiplier), since BMI doesn‘t discern between fat and muscle weight, neither does it identify the locale of the fat – around the middle is the most dangerous.

How to interpret your results?

If your waist circumference is below half of your height, you‘re in a good condition of health. This applies to both genders and all ages.

(Side note on the ’both genders‘, since we‘re having a science discussion… It‘s not correct to say “all” genders. There are two genders, so the correct word here is “both.”)

Ok, back on topic here. At 0.5, disease risk begins. The higher above 0.5 the higher the risk.

If waist circumference is 60% of height or (0.6 when dividing waist by height), it‘s all the more urgent that you take decisive yet joyful action.

Two New Initiatives

We have a great lady on staff beginning two initiatives simultaneously for women. Which might be best for you?

One is called – Why Weight? Lose it! – and is a program dedicated to diet and weight management. The other is called – Happy Hens.  Not a weight loss focus. Just consultations for spiritual, mental, and physical health. A support group for women.

If you‘re interested in either, please go HERE and simply put in your email address, and she will get back with you in the coming days about the next online anonymous meetings being held.

Guys looking for some brotherhood, struggling with food or other addictive habits, just email me by replying to this newsletter. We’ve got an invincible victory plan. Just email what your goals are and I’ll give you the blueprint for success from one brother’s perspective.
